Alexander Gordon was born about 1800 in Westmoreland County. In the 1860 census, he and his wife Sarah lived in Leechburg and owned real estate valued at $1000, and a personal estate valued at $200. His occupation was county surveyor. In 1870, his occupation was still surveyor and he and Sarah now had assets valued at $5000 and $1000. In 1880, at the age of 82, Alexander is a notary public. He and Sarah live on Main Street in Leechburg. Alexander's father was born in Ireland and his mother in Franklin County, PA. Sarah Gordon was born in Mifflin County; her father in York County, and her mother in Mifflin County.
